Why?

So why the need for Girly Time….
Most people know me as the the Founder of Young Mums Support Network and mother of two children who I am extremely proud of!

This year my company celebrates its 5th year in business which for me is a big milestone, especially as there have been times when I’ve considered shutting up shop.

Working in Third Sector is a massive challenge and being passionate about the cause requires a lot of my mental and emotional energy. I get a lot of demands from a wide range of individuals inquiring about supporting me or who are expressing an interest in me coaching and mentoring them. Often I feel like I’m constantly on the go or like there’s never enough time.

When I entered into this social action arena I never knew just how demanding it would be. I have been checking in with myself a lot to ensure that I strike a healthy balance between Children, Home, Church, Work, Family, Friends.. and me! It can become so overwhelming.

People often say to me Well Done I’ve seen that you are doing amazing things on social media (I sometimes think only if they knew the half) As women we wear many hats and spin so many plates all at once. I know that none of us are robots and am super in tune to the fact that social media is an absolute lie! None of us are totally and utterly wonderfully fine we are all striving for peace and happiness. One of the things I know we are women do very well is that when we all get together under the same roof and get chatting something magical happens.

The Launch

After speaking with a few like minded ladies it seemed we would all benefit from some much needed quality time to talk and reflect. I thought to myself, I’m going to do this. I’ll launch a once a month event and call it Girly Time. The reason being we have become quite distracted from human interaction and if we are not careful social media will rule our lives.

The Launch of girly time really brought joy to me heart and certainly made me realise that there is a need for women to connect and listen to each others journeys especially because we cover up some well. I often say to people don’t let the MAC fool you!

Girly time launch was a great experience for me, I really enjoyed the realness of the panel, them sharing there stories allows us the audience to hear that even though they have public careers they have faced challenges & some still face challenges, this enables us to know we're not on our own as sometimes we don't feel we can talk to anybody about what we're going through. The treatments offered were a very lovely touch. Well done to Fiona Small & team, you are truly giving back to the community.

I just want to give a Big shout out to Fiona Small on the successful launch of 'Girly Time'! I personally found it very inspiring and thought provoking! Thank you to all the beautiful ladies on the panel for sharing your stories! You're all Amazing, strong, powerful women! This has made me think again about how I am showing up in the world and that I need to evaluate and look inwards on what changes I need to make to make a difference in my life and how I can make a positive impact on those around me. May God continue to bless you!
